Before reading about Orbs in the Indiayogi article I had no particular knowledge about this phenomenon
and to be very honest, no particular interest in it either. The article sparked some mild interest in me
but I had tucked it away as something that was not greatly relevant to me.
Only about a fortnight after I first read about this I saw my first photo with a clear orb within it!
This was quick work indeed. What made the experience impactful was the fact that the orb was hovering
above my right temple and the photo was taken by a seven year old, Harshvardhan Upadhaya, the son of my
friend Rajeshwar, also seen with me in the picutre! The site of the orb phenomenon was also significant;
it was the Pachal Someswhara temple at Paangal village, about 80 kms from Hyderabad. This is a living
temple which is over 1000 years old, and was once a royal shrine. From the picture it is to be noted we
were standing in front of the Shiva shrine; I was actually touching the Nandi as I kept telling my friends
it had great presence and I wanted to soak some of it in.
Orbs in temple perhaps denote the Yaksha energies, the genius loci of the spot. They could also
signify spirit guides or helpers. In either case it is relevant that I was open to the energy of the place
but I did not specifically sense anything. It was a most unusual confirmation of a phenomenon that is
evidently reflective of some sort of huge shift in the subtle energies that they are becoming visible so
easily. It is also to be noted that I did not have a digital camera but a really ancient clunker. When the
orb decides to manifest visibly I suppose the quality of the camera does not really matter.
This experience may not convince the die hard skeptics, but it was an interesting one in my context.
