Can you hear the giggling crystals?
Washing crystals, like washing pets, can be a very enjoyable pastime. It might on
occasion be possible to intuitively tune in to the gurgles and screams of laughter
and happiness emitted by the crystals, as they cavort and frolic in the rainbow
energies of water and light after some period of dusty ennui!
What I mean here, is that the human mind is always full of tricks, some of them
quite pleasurable, as ‘uppers’, without harmful side effects. A lot of our interaction
with our environs is in the nature of projection of thoughts and feelings that can
be perceptibly mirrored back to us, with without a reality basis. Washing or cleaning
a dusty object, to see it come to life and sparkle under our hands, is a very satisfying
and creative activity. And who knows, there may be a happy sentience to the crystal
that communicates its joy by tickling our corresponding cerebro-spinal plexuses
to life in return!

For me, washing crystals is also a time of chakra cleansing, especially the heart
and higher chakras. I allow some of the joy and frolic to clear out the musty cobwebs
and dullness from within, as I peer into the crystal nooks and crannies for the
last remnants of dust and dullness.
All rocks, boulders, cliffs and crystals, like plants, share this strong affinity
for water. Many avid gardeners speak of stones that ask to be watered along with
the plants, the grass, and the bird baths, in blithe attunement to the rejuvenating
powers of aqua pura!
Charging the etheric body with cosmic radiation
There is the analogous sacred Vedic ritual of arghya
while performing the daily sandhya in ritual practice,
which involves an offering of water to the Sun God, the solar deity overhead: Water
is filled in a copper vessel and raised overhead after bathing in a stream, lake,
river, or the sea, accompanied with holy chanting to invoke and imbue ourselves
with the divine Solar energy.

|
With a copper pitcher held aloft in hands raised high overhead, droplets of water
are released in a gradual flow in front of the body, into the flowing water at the
feet. Each drop of water turns into a rainbow prism radiating solar energy all over
the freshly washed body, for good health and overall well-being.
Water is thus innovatively used in place of crystal prisms, to split the Sun’s rays
into health-giving rainbow colours, applied to our bodies from head to toe. This
ritual also serves to attune the body to powerful cosmic energies. So also, wearing
crystal beads while swimming in water or splashing under waterfalls can magnify
the positive elemental energies for good health!

The next step after cleansing, is to charge the crystals with subtle yet powerful
energies by exposing them to sunlight and especially, strong moonlight on days around
the Full Moon each month. This is like party time for the crystals, which is something
for you to experience with an open mind and an innocent heart.
An important note concerns using the flame of an oil lamp, or better still, of the
sacred
vedic fire ritual (agnihotra),
to boost the effect of charging or programming crystals with particular intent,
as also done to empower mantra chants. Fire has the quintessential power of amplifying
manifold the effectiveness of subtle vibrations, as recognised in most older civilisations,
and this understanding can be put to creative use in contemporary work with crystals
also, whether for healing, scrying, exploring past lives, creative visualisation,
telepathy, dreamwork or in developing possibilities of astral travel. Candles can
serve well, although oil lamps in earthenware or copper are considered best for
such rituals.
Your best crystals deserve to be displayed on gold or silver filigree stands with
silken finery if you can afford it! I can’t, and so I experiement with stoneware,
ceramics, wood and ordinary decorative metals like brass and copper to display the
crystals. Colourful satin and velvet fabrics to cushion the crystals are another
source of joy, while in some moods and locations, they are best left in the rough
and raw of rock manifestation!

Friends of crystals
Crystals interact positively with plants to bring peace and harmony to the environs,
and we can be endlessly
creative in combining these two natural sources of positivity and purifying energy
to synergistic effect. However, the electromagnetic field of crystals may be too
strong for plants if placed in direct contact in the pot itself. Thus crystals must
be kept near but not too close to the root space of the plants, or the latter may
die.
Crystals interact exceptionally well with certain ‘sacred’ plants that are known
for their healing powers, both in cleansing and recharging, and in magnifying the
natural healing properties in the environment. Such plants include herbs like basil,
and plants of the ficus genus, such as ficus racemosa (Audumbar,
which is an iconic representation of the primordial guru Dattatreya),
ficus bengalensis (Banyan) and ficus religiosa (the Peepul
or Bodhi tree).
