 Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

The Sahaj Sthithi Yoga programme is one of the many programmes being conducted under the Sadhguru's guidance. Samyama (a meditation camp to awaken the kundalini) and Bhava Spandana (for personal exploration and transformation) are also conducted regularly. Yoga workshops are offered through centres in over 50 centres and towns in Tamil Nadu and yoga programmes are being held in various places in India and USA. Jaggi Vasudev travels to the United States each year to teach in various cities. He says his yoga programme can be considered a modern antidote to stress, fear and anger. In his words" Never in history has humanity been as comfortable, yet as insecure as it is now. It is time to look within oneself."

Inner Freedom For The Imprisoned
"Inner Freedom for the Imprisoned" is another programme designed by Jaggi Vasudev and is one of the most remarkable. First conducted at the Coimbatore Jail in 1992, this seven-day workshop transformed the lives of 67 convicts serving life terms. Scheduled once every month, the programme has brought about tremendous change within the prison. The inmates have become more peaceful, cooperative and open. On seeing the tremendous response, these programmes are being conducted in prisons as part of the curriculum and there has been a tremendous transformation in the participants who undertook this programme. By focusing on inner transformation, this programme helps inmates develop emotional and mental balance, responsibility, acceptance and communication skills they can use to improve the quality of life during incarceration increasing the chances of a successful return to society once they are released.

The Sadhguru and some volunteers from his organisation have held some classes at two prisons in Pennsylvania in the US as well. Since then prison officials in other prisons of the same state have asked the Isha Foundation volunteers to begin yoga classes at the state's 27 correctional facilities. The Sadhguru is a known humanitarian and peace worker. His actions for peace include participation in summits at the UN and around the world. He also leads yearly pilgrimages to shrines and temples all over India.

Friendly and accessible, this new-age guru can often be seen playing volleyball with the brahmacharis (monks) of the centre in the evenings or listening to the music of the Beatles or Balamurali Krishna. His writings and teachings include, Dhyanalinga: The Silent Revolution of Self-Realisation, Encounter the Enlightened: Conversations With the Master and Eternal Echoes: The Sacred Sounds Through the Mystic.
