Brahma Vidya was brought to India by Swami Ramanathan. In 1949, the 23 year old
Ramanathan saw an advertisement of the Mental Physics Course conducted by Ding Le
Mei, in a foreign magazine. He immediately wrote to Ding Le Mei for further information.
Ding Le Mei had learnt the course of Mental Physics from Tibetan Monks, in Tibet,
and had passed it on to disciples. Guru Ding Le Mei not only had a very distinguished
record of achievement as a writer and geographical explorer, but also explored the
realm of thought and spirit in China, India and Tibet during over 20 years of travel,
explorational and professional experience. He lived for a time in a Tibetan Monastery
and studied under a remarkable Tibetan Master. Adapting the knowledge gained into
a super-yoga for the western way of life, he founded The Science of Mental Physics.
He also founded the Mental Physics Teaching Center and Spiritual Retreat in Yucca
Valley.
It was a determined Ramanathan who enrolled for this course to further his spiritual
quest. Despite the financial constraints, young Ramanathan also enrolled himself
into the Inner Chamber Course of Mental Physics for 124 weeks and after completing
that, enrolled for the Advanced Preceptor's Course.
It was finally in 1984 that Swami Ramanathan was able to go to America to attend
a convention of Mental Physics wherein he received the title of 'Guru Jyotirmayananda',
the blissful embodiment of light! In 1992, Mental Physics was renamed as Brahma
Vidya by Guru Jyotirmayananda for the Indian region.
On August 7, 1977, Swami Ramanathan started his first Brahma Vidya class with 50
students. More than four thousand students who have benefited from this course passed
through his hands, spreading the knowledge of Brahma Vidya throughout the region.
Among his earlier students was Justice M. L. Dudhat, who took it upon himself to
spread this simple yet effective message to the masses! Over the years, Justice
Dudhat has been conducting these workshops in Mumbai and the suburbs of Mumbai.
The course has transformed the lives of those who have done it and its popularity
has grown immensely in the past decade.
