Caution and Remarks :
- Even though participants do not need to submit any health certificate, those with a history of medical problems, particularly cardiac or respiratory, should consult a doctor before deciding to undertake the trip (especially Kailash or Tibet trip is rigorous and challenging, where all the time is spent at high altitudes).
- Carry appropriate substitutional drugs for individuals allergic to any of the above.
- Avoid medication such as sleeping tablets, sedatives, strong painkillers and anti-histamines, which depress the respiration and increase the risk of 'Acute Mountain Sickness' (AMS) especially while sleeping.
- Flying or driving to high altitude, increases the risk of developing severe 'AMS'. Consider using Diamox™, first dose the day before you ascend and continue for four or five days.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Descend if the symptoms get worse.
- A portable hyper baric chamber called a 'Gamow Bag™' may be helpful in reversing the effects of mild to severe 'AMS'.
- Peripheral Edema (swelling of the eyelids, face, hands etc.) is probably more susceptible for the development of signs of AMS. The use of medicines such as Furosemide (Lasix™) is not recommended. Rather Diamox™ works more or less as alternative medicine.
